Beachy Head
Beachy Head is a headland situated in East Sussex, 3 miles to the West of Eastbourne and 1.8 miles East of Birling Gap.
The postcode for Beachy Head is BN20 7YA.
Beachy Head has the highest chalk cliffs in Britain which rise to a total of 162 metres of 531 feet above Sea Level.
You will find the Beachy Head Hotel and restaurant which offers good pub grub and a place to refresh yourself whilst walking in the area.
You will also find the Beachy Head Story visitor centre with a shop and exhibition centre telling you more about the history of the area.
From the edge of the cliff you can see the Beachy Head Lighthouse which is still an operational light station and has been serving mariners since the 2nd October 1902.
Please stay well away from the cliff edge as erosion is a constant process and there could be a cliff fall at any time.
Did you know that I write books?
I am recognised as an authority on the lighthouses of Beachy Head, the history of the chalk cliffs and coastal erosion. I am also a writer and novelist. I've written books about both lighthouses and the interesting stories about how they came to exist, how they were constructed and what has happened to them since.
The Story of the Belle Tout Lighthouse is now in its second-edition and includes fascinating information about the interesting life of this old lighthouse.
The Story of the Beachy Head Lighthouse helped Save the Stripes and tells what life was like for a lighthouse keeper stationed on this light station.
The Story of Birling Gap is the first book of its kind specifically about Birling Gap, with facts, information, images and pictures that many people may not have seen before.
Pearl of Wisdom is a crime thriller adventure. “An exciting adventure. Full of twists and turns. I couldn’t put it down. A great holiday read."
The Life Changing Journey of Nicholas Savage is an adventure thriller. “This fascinating and feasible storyline is a thoroughly engrossing read."
